May the God of hope fill you with all joy and
peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy
Spirit.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses
all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When my spiritual well
has run dry,
when my soul aches
with both longing and loss,
as I stumble through the darkness,
desperate to find the light,
I reach out—
I call out to You, Lord.
Please restore my soul.
There is peace in believing.
There is joy to be found.
There is faith always rising
every morning with the sun.
So, even when I am lost,
even when I am hunkered down,
riding out a spiritual storm,
I know that peace will return
with the silence, with the stillness,
with the pause that always follows the rain.
The winds will pull away
and the clouds retreat.
The ground will thirst no more.
The mockingbirds will return
and find their voice and fill
the trees with song again.
The battered hibiscus, drooping,
wilted and filled with the tears
left behind by the storm,
will lift its head again
and turn to the sun
and bask in its warmth.
And there, I will find You, Lord.
There I will find my hope again.
There Your Spirit will be revealed.
And there I will find that Peace
that surpasses all understanding
and fills me with Your eternal love.
Amen.
